01 June 2023

BWT Alpine F1 Team is proud to mark Pride Month with a series of actions throughout the month of June and commits to promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion and embracing diversity.

BWT Alpine F1 Team has renewed its successful partnership with Racing Pride, the initiative to promote inclusion through motorsport, to promote key messages and several initiatives to further raise awareness and stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.

Throughout the month of June, a series of allyship symbols will be visible throughout the team’s sites from the Progress Pride Flag flying proudly at both factories at Enstone and Viry Chatillon, to all employees being invited to wear lanyards to show their support.

The Alpine A523 cars will run with the Progress Pride Flag during all race weekends taking place in June in Spain, Canada, and Austria. BWT Alpine F1 Team partner Castrol will also demonstrate their support for the LGBTQ+ community with a special Castrol Pride logo on the Alpine A523.

A workshop open to all in Enstone and in Viry Chatillon, run by Racing Pride and BWT Alpine F1 Team’s Diversity & Inclusion Group will see employees listen to and participate in discussion panels and one-on-one exchanges.

The team will also welcome motorsport fans from the LGBTQ+ community this summer for a factory discovery tour at Enstone.
Since last year, meaningful initiatives have taken place to continuously promote diversity and inclusion at BWT Alpine F1 Team. Diversity and Inclusion allyship training sessions have been introduced and have taken place with all employees over the past few months.

Otmar Szafnauer, Team Principal, BWT Alpine F1 Team: “We have had positive feedback from colleagues within the team following actions and workshops done with Racing Pride and the Diversity and Inclusion group in 2022 and 2023.This is incredibly rewarding. It shows that the work done to increase awareness and inclusivity is making strides. We must however absolutely continue this good work to make the LGBTQ+ community 100% accepted and valued."

Kerrie Sparling, Power Platform Development Manager at BWT Alpine F1 Team, and Racing Pride Ambassador, will again this year be an invaluable representative with the work she is doing with the team’s Diversity & Inclusion group: "Continuing the Racing Pride partnership gives us a great opportunity to build on the foundations that have been put in place over the past year to support LGBTQ+ inclusion at BWT Alpine F1 Team. There is still a lot to do, but we're making real progress. The support across the team has been overwhelmingly positive, and Pride Month is a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work that is going on at Enstone and Viry to make our Team a more inclusive environment for everyone."

Sarah Moore, Racing Pride Director: “We are so pleased to be building on the work we started with BWT Alpine F1 Team last year. It is fantastic that the team’s support for the LGBTQ+ community will be highly visible across Pride Month with the Progress Pride Flag featuring on the Alpine A523 cars in Spain, Canada, and Austria. We are also excited to be able to offer the opportunity for members of our community to visit the team at Enstone. Crucially, we look forward to continuing to work in close dialogue with the team, through our series of workshops and internal conversations, to empower and support LGBTQ+ team members, to foster allyship, and to create a more inclusive sport and industry.”
